The FCO Library holds a comprehensive range of Colonial and United Kingdom official publications about Colonial affairs; a large collection of books and pamphlets on the historical evolution of the former Colonies and of the Commonwealth; copies of Colonial and United Kingdom main Subsidiary legislation, Colonial Constitutional Instruments, Colonial Law
and
Reports, legal textbooks and works of reference; and an extensive collection of maps.

13.2.1
FCO LIBRARY : FUNCTIONS
Publications (Fditorial) Section edits the "Year Book of the Commonwealth", which includes material on Dependent Territories (DTs). The Librarian requests desk officers in DT geographical Departments to examine and vet material for the Year Book from time to time and sends reminders to the Governments of DTS when material which they should send in for this purpose is delayed.
13.2.2 The Librarian is responsible for the publication of non treaty Command Papers. Deleted.
13.2.3 Under Colonial Regulation 151, the Library receives copies of official publications issued by the Governments of DTs. The Library assists in the distribution and exchange of such publications and other published material from DTs.
13.2.4 The Library catalogues and indexes articles from the press of DT. (See para 13.9.)
13.2.5 The Library deals with enquiries for factual information or access to sources both from within the FCO and from outside (Press enquiries should be referred to News Department, which will pass them on to the Library when necessary).
13.2.6 The Library prepares and circulates a monthly bibliography of all official publications, legislation and maps produced by or about present and former DTs which have been received in the Library. This bibliography is entitled "Technical Co-operation". There is a quarterly supplement to "Technical Co-operation" listing bills and subsidiary legislation.
13.2.7 The Library receives, files and indexes legislation of DTS and UK legislation relevant to DTs and
deals with enquiries concerning legislation (See also Chapter 8).
