Governor,

Government House, Hong Kong.

Your Excellency,

I was deeply concerned when I read in today's HONG KONG STANDARD that Miss Christine Vertucci was refused a renewal of her visa to stay in Hong Kong.

I have lived in Hong Kong over seventeen years. I love Hong Kong and have always been proud of its freedom and respect for human rights. This case seems to cast a shadow over this reputation for freedom. Upon further inquiry, I found out that Miss Vertucci applied for her extension of visa on December 18, 1981 and did not receive notice of refusal until January 22, 1982, just before the long Chinese New Year holiday.

I know Miss Christine Vertucci and know her to be a highly dedicated woman devoted to the service of others. I ask you to do whatever is possible to bring about a reversa). of the decision to refuse her an extension of visa.

Yours respectfully,

Sister Mary Love Tenfil

I know Miss Christine Vertucci to by a highly dedicated woman interested in service to others. I is a shame that Hong Kong has no place for a woman of her fine qualities. I beg you to do whatever is possible to bring about a reversal of the decision to refuse her an extension of visa.
