Ice House Street

Hong Kong.

26 January, 1982

Dear Sir Philip,

I am writing to you at this time regarding & friend of mine,

Mica Christine Vertucci,

Christine has been working in Hong Kong for over four years an₫

recently applied for an extension of her visa.

Although she applied

well in advance (on December 18, 1981), she was not informed until

lato in the afternoon of January 22, 1982, that her visa would not be

extended. To my knowledge, no explanation was given regarding the

refusel to renew her visa. She has been told to leave H.K in 2 weeks.

May I sck you, sir, to kindly look into this case to see the

rationale behind the refusal of the Director of Immigration to renew

the visa of this person? Christine is carrying a U.S.A. passport,

is a qualified lawyer, and has done nothing contrary to the lawe of

Hong Kong. I am puzzled as to the reasons for her inability to renee

her visa o

Respectfully,

Mary Ellen Mertens
