"resident British citizen" means any

person who --

(1971 c.77.)

(a) is a British citizen; or

(b)

is or becomes a British citizen

and who immediately before

1 January 1983 was a citizen of

the United Kingdom and Colonies

having the right of abode in the

United Kingdom under the

Immigration Act 1971,

and has at any time been ordinarily

resident in Hong Kong, either as a

British citizen or partly as a

United Kingdom belonger and partly

as a British citizen, for a continuous

period of not less than 7 years;

"settled" has the same meaning as it has

in the 1981 Act;";

(b) by deleting the definition of "alien";

(c) by deleting the definition of "British

protected person";

(d)in the definition of "British subject by

snaturalization in Hong Kong by inserting

before "means" the following
