SUBJECT: BRITISH NATIONALITY ACT 1981; RUBBER STAMPS FOR
PASSPORTS.
1
Appropriate rubber stamps have now been prepared
to cover the new categories of citizenship created by.
the British Nationality Act 1981. Full sets of these
rubber stamps may be obtained from Supply Section,
Office Services and Transport Unit to whom your orders
should be sent indicating the number of sets you require.
Enclosures-flag(s)...........
2 As indicated in the FCO Circular '0' 98/82, passports
issued after 1 January 1983 will no longer be printed
with the endorsement 'Holder has the right of abode in the
United Kingdom'. It would consequently be necessary to
enter this endorsement on page 5 in respect of any
passports issued to British subjects (as defined in Part IV
of the 1981 Act) who have the right of abode in the
United Kingdom. Diplomatic Service posts who are likely
to issue passports to such categories of persons, and who
do not already have a suitable rubber stamp, may wish
to consider ordering a sufficient number to meet their
needs at the same time as they order the rubber stamps
referred to in paragraph 1.
