La Dr Edmund Marshall (Goole): To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, why the number of Vietnamese refugees in Hong Kong increased by 813 between 7 April and 30 June.

Since early May the rate of arrival of Vietnamese refugees

in Hong Kong has exceeded the rate of resettlement. The rate

normally

of arrival always increases during the summer months. At the

same time it has become harder to find resettlement places.
