JOINT COMMITTEE FOR REFUGEES FROM VIETNAM

No

218,

I enclose for your information 2 copies of the report of the Joint Committee for Refugees from Vietnam which is published today. Its availability has been indicated in an Answer in the House and in a press release.

The Home Secretary has indicated to the Chairman of the Joint Committee,

Sir Arthur Peterson KCB, MVO that he will write in due course with his response to the recommendations of the report. In view of the problems which face the Vietname he has asked Sir Arthur to continue his Chairmanship of the Joint Committee in order to co-ordinate efforts to set the continuing though more limited support which the Vietnamese local authorities and other statutory agencies who deal with them, still need, on a firmer more long term basis.

Yours
