The direct departure figure to "other" countries does not include 5,000 refugees resettled in Hong Kong between 1975 and late 1978, who were moved from Vietnam to llong Kong via "semi-direct departure. Another 4,700 ethulc Chinese were moved from Vietnam by ICRC for local resettlement in Taiwan between 1976 and 1982. The departure figures for refugees moving from "other" countries of first asylum to "other" resettlement countries does not include 6,000 refugees locally resettled In Taiwan in 1975, nor the approximate 5,000 Khmer Muslims who were moved from camps in Thailand for resettlement in Malaysia (2,000 in 1975-76 and 3,000 in 1980-81).
** Departures from Hong Kong for resettlement in "other" countries includes 9,000 boat refugees who arrived in Hong Kong in 1975 and were locally resettled there.
