Dowever, in informal conversation with Office official rained subject of family reunion criteria for Vietnamese refugees from Hong Kong.

As you know, at the moment, the same criteria apply to all family reunion cases and these are not relaxed for refugees from Hong Kong: only spouse and minor children (and in cz- ceptional circumet ICOS, pondent parents over 60) would be accepted. Ho intimated, in confidence, that a request through the TCO for family reunion criteria to be liberalized for Vietnamese refugees from Hong Kong might be sympathetically considered by the Home Offi

Admittedly, this does not offer much practicable relief in numerical terms but you may feel there could be some "publicity" (as well as a little practical value) vis-a-vis other resettlement territories.
