RESCUE AT SEA AND DISERO

The United States urges UNHCR and the maritime

community to futher enhance the rescue of refugees in distress on the high seas through the continued availability of the disembarkation resettlement offers program. The United States has contributed resettlement 'opportunities to this program and will continue to

so on the basis of one such opportunity to three opportunities contributed by other countries.

Of course

the United States continues to provide resettlement for refugees rescued by U.S.-owned ships.

We urge

other nations to do the same for those rescued by

ships owned in their countries.
