1 I explained to you on the telephone this morning that Mr Rushford's work on Hong Kong had meant that his work for us

'Falklands Internal Self-Government' had not made much progress. He was now in a position to finish this off and expected to be able to do so by the end of September. This would also allow him to be available for any further work on the Hong Kong study that might spring from the Prime Minister's current visit. Mr Clift would find this very helpful from his point of view.

2 In the light of this, you agreed to the extension of Mr Rushford's appointment to 1 October, on the present terms and conditions. I have informed Mr Rushford by telephone.
