Chen Muhua raised this subject with HM Ambassador recently.
Chancellor of the Exchequer has already explained to you unlikely
that anything can be arranged in London. As Sir Murray MacLehose
has told you, we think any Hong Kong angle must be played long;
we cannot focus on this now.
6.
Prime Minister's Visit to China: Ship Launching [If raised]
Plans are going ahead for the PM's visit but we have not
yet started detailed discussions with the Chinese. At present
expect that Mrs Thatcher might be in Shanghai on Saturday 25
September.
