The speaker for (b) is Dr Hugh Baker of SOAS who
had lived and worked in Hong Kong for some time, can speak fluent Cantonese as well as Mandarin and is a friend of this office. As you can see from para 15 of Appendix A, his session, to take place after Easter, was announced on 26th February.
We shall brief Dr Baker and keep closely in touch with him on this.

Appendix B re 27th--You will wish to see whether KK FUNG does indeed form a "Hong Kong branch" of the UK Federation of Hong Kong Students on his return home, para 7.
9. As you know from earlier correspondence (viz the "Bradford" report ), we are trying to build up a lending service of "resource material", including public affairs and entertainment features on video cassette, para 8.
10. We expect to receive, quite regularly, requests to talk about 1997. We would appreciate some general guidance on the line to take with such requests
