Chinese arrest of criminal wanted in Hong Kong
10. Mr. ZHANG explained that on 2 June 1982 a 22 year old Hong Kong resident had been arrested at Chek Mai by Chinese
PSB. The man had confessed that with two accomplices he had stolen $100,000 worth of jade from a market in Canton Road,
Kowloon. Mr. ZHANG said that this case had been mentioned by
Mr. WANG Zailin at the meeting with DCI on 10 June.
He
indicated that the Chinese authorities wished to send the
criminal back to Hong Kong and looked forward to an exchange
of other criminals from one side to the other.

13. Mr. ZHANG invited Mr. LIU Jie to speak about a dispute over land on Hong Kong territory farmed by members of a commune in Shenzhen. The dispute had arisen after some illegal immigrants had brought with them to Hong Kong the title to ownership of the land. Despite meetings between the Shenzhen side and District Office (North) in September 1980, May and November 1981, the dispute was unresolved. Mr. LIU appreciated that the matter
