THE PRIME MINISTER'S FAR EASTERN TOUR

1.

Planning Staff has been asked to provide the Prime Minister with a daily sitrep during her Far Eastern tour (16-28 September). The Prime Minister wants this to be kept as short as possible and to deal only with issues of particular current interest or those likely to be of special interest while she is in the Far East.

2. Consulting Departments as appropriate, Planning Staff will accordingly put together a sitrep each afternoon for despatch by close of play. However, if you think there is a particular development which merits reporting and of which Planning Staff may be unaware, I should be grateful if someone in your Department would contact me or Mary Blake-Pauley (233 3307) by 1600 hours on the day in question with a draft passage for inclusion. This will obviously be particularly important if the issue is a fast moving one (eg. Middle East, Transatlantic relations) when Planning Staff may not be fully in the picture.
