PRIME MINISTER'S VISIT TO FAR EAST

In my letter to Mike Hall dated 26 August in reply to his letter to me of 25 August on a number of outstanding points in respect of the Hong Kong part of the trip, I stated that I would submit to John Coles, on his return from leave, the points raised in paragraphs 6 and 7.

I have now done so and in respect of paragraph 6 John Coles has asked the FCO Private Office to submit a list of events planned for the Prime Minister for the complete tour. When this is received he will decide upon who should participate in each case. However, if Hong Kong require an answer on this specific point I suggest that you advise them that it is possible that two helicopters may be required as it is normal practice for both Private Secretaries to accompany the Prime Minister on such occasions.

Regarding paragraph 7, the allocation of rooms will be as shown on the attached plan.
