In Sir John Burgh's absence on leave I am replying to 181 your letter of 23 August with its news that it will

not be possible during the Prime Minister's visit to Hong Kong to squeeze in a visit to the British Council offices. This is, of course, disappointing news, but I am glad that there may be a chance for our Representative to meet the Prime Minister at the Governor's reception on 27 September.

I will draw the Director-General's attention to this news on his return on 6 September.
