PRESS
A suite has been reserved in the press accommodation throughout the tour to enable the No 10 Press Office team to give informal briefings.
The press party will be responsible for their own hotel bills, while their transport is covered in the all-inclusive charge for the tour (except in China). Details have been given separately to the press
party.
18. GIFTS
A number of gifts for the tour, principally for Japan and China, will be taken out in the RAF VC 10.

Subsistence and hotel costs will be charged to Parent Departments. (Manpower and Planning Office in the case of the No 10 Party).
Mr Donald's costs will be charged to DCS Vote 1, Subhead C3(2)(e).
(c) The costs of the support staff will be met by the MPO as will common service costs (eg. hire of transport, office machinery, special telephones) and the cost of official entertainment. (The main items will be the Prime Minister's dinner in Tokyo and banquet in Peking.)
The Detectives' costs will be charged to the Metropolitan Police.

SUBSISTENCE
Where members of the party are guests of a host government, ie those staying in the guest houses in Japan and China and in Government House in Hong Kong, one-tenth subsistence will be paid.
If members of the party are accommodated by British Embassy, or Hong Kong Government staff, they will receive one-third subsistence per night.
Where conference terms are applicable in hotels, the British Embassy or Hong Kong Government will pay the account for room, breakfast, tax and service, while each of those concerned will receive half-rate subsistence per day to cover other personal expenses.
Those intending to do personal shopping on the tour are advised to take travellers' cheques since British Diplomatic Posts, and Hong Kong Government Offices, are not permitted to cash personal cheques
