Dear Jin,

You wrote to me on 24 August enclosing a draft message for the Prime Minister to send to the China Daily for publication in its supplement to mark her visit to China. As you know, the Prime Minister was not entirely happy with the draft and preferred a more direct version. I enclose a draft which the Prime Minister would be prepared to send, provided that it is acceptable to you.
