Interdepartmental Group (TDG) have submitted report.
Subsidy for students from British Dependent Territories
(including Hong Kong) supported in principle, but not possible to identify necessary funds within existing votes. Secretary of State proposes to raise matter with Prime Minister, emphasising effects of 1979 decision and suggesting that subject be considered collectively by Ministers with a view to allocating new funds to specific proposals with subsidy for Hong Kong students, as proposed by HKG, given top priority.
