Brief No 2 on the Future of Hong Kong will follow after

the Prime Minister's meeting this afternoon.

Lord Belstead also asked for an estimate of the number

of Hong Kong students in England. According to the Hong Kong

Government Office, this is currently about 12,000, of whom

approximately 3,500 are in secondary schools, 2,000 doing GCE '0'

and 'A' level courses in Colleges of Further Education etc,

5,000 at Universities and Polytechnics and 1,500 at other

institutions (eg nurses, training colleges, secretarial colleges).
