DSR 11C
SPEAKING NOTE (for general use)
On kai fele
Very pleased to be visiting Hong Kong for first time.
Have managed to see quite a lot so far. Assumed
responsibility for Hong Kong affairs in FCO in April this
year: glad to be able to come here myself, to get to know
Hong Kong and people who play important role in Hong Kong
affairs. Struck by dynamism and activity of people, by
achievements and progress in many fields, by feeling of
energy generated everywhere.
Pleased we have been able to agree common aim with Chinese
on future of Hong Kong and that talks have started. A lot
of parliamentary and public interest in Hong Kong in the UK.
Pan
し as PM herself has made clear)
