LORD BELSTEAD'S VISIT TO HONG KONG

1. As requested, I attach a copy of Lord Belstead's updated

programme. I also attach draft speaking notes for the

Minister's meeting with UMELCO, a general speaking note for

use at other lunch and dinner engagements, and a draft statement

for use at the Press Conference. As you know, the passages on

the future of Hong Kong will inevitably need to be updated.

We are also seeking Hong Kong's comments on draft speaking

notes for the lunch with businessmen: I attach a copy of the

draft telegram.

2. We have telegraphed Hong Kong reminding them of

Lord Belstead's wish to meet Mr Christopher Eugster during

his visit.
