POINTS TO MAKE

1.

Welcome the creation of the SEZS as they facilitate commercial cooperation between China and overseas partners and

enable Hong Kong to play a greater role in China's

modernisation, so helping to maintain confidence in the future.

2.

Would like to see British firms take advantage of the opportunities offered by the SEZs and particularly of the close

relationship between Hong Kong and Shenzhen.

CROSS-BORDER COOPERATION

3.

In the light of points 1 and 2, particularly welcome the recent agreement providing for increased cross-border

cooperation. Practical cooperation is beneficial to, and in the

interests of, all concerned.
