TUEN MUN LIGHT RAIL VEHICLE
Government approval has been given for the construction
of a new light rail system at a cost of HK$600 million. As the Government has been unable to reach agreement with the Kowloon Wharf & Godown Company on the franchise a decision on the scheme has been delayed. The target date for project completion is 1986. Metro Cammell are watching developments.

LYE MUN BRIDGE
Mott Hay and Anderson with Wilbur Smith Associates
completed a design study for a bridge to carry a rail link. The contract will probably be worth £60-70 million Taylor Woodrow & Wimpey intend to pursue.
(vii) CHINA ROAD PROJECT
A feasibility study for the construction of a road between Hong Kong and Guangzhou (Canton) with a separate spur to Macao has been completed. Hopewell (Hong Kong) have an agreement with the Chinese Government to enter into a joint venture for the project. They will arrange finance and be repaid out of tolls for the use of the road which will be jointly owned by themselves and the Chinese Government in a ratio of 25:75. Wimpey hope to be managing contractors for the whole project but are likely to face strong Japanese competition.
