Mr President, students of this University.

It has been a great pleasure to come here and

visit Peking University, perhaps China's most

famous seat of learning and certainly one of

its most excellent. I have particularly

enjoyed this chance to meet some of the students

here, both Chinese and British. Many of the

former will without doubt play important parts

in shaping the future of China, while a

number of the latter will, I am equally sure,
