Mr Streeton
FOREIGN AFFAIRS COMMITTEE:
1.
BRIEFING FOR ORAL EVIDENCE SESSIONS.
The
As instructed I have asked the Clerk for the wording of the precise questions to be put on 14 June on the topics already indicated. There are no precise questions as yet: the Committee's Adviser is still vetting our written evidence. Clerk hopes, however, to be able to let me have them by Wednesday next week. (This will be too late for them to be taken into account in the draft briefs but they should be available for the PUS's meeting to discuss the briefs on Thursday 10th).
2.
The Clerk reminded me that there may well be questions on other areas, too. As discussed yesterday, some defensive briefing on other potential question areas will therefore be necessary.
3.
He thinks it most probable that having questioned the BBC on their China operations, the Committee will turn to the British Council and FCO angles. I agreed that we would arrange for one British Council representative to be present as a witness.
4. I reminded the Clerk of the dividing line between ourselves and Home Office on the question of the Passport Office computer. He will check with his Committee next week, and if they wish to pursue this aspect, he will ask for a Home Office witness to attend on 21 June.
