Your Excellency

On 8th October I plan to leave London (accompanied by my wife) to visit Bangkok, Hong Kong and Tokyo, returning to London on 23rd bctober 1982.

The main purpose of my tour is political, to re-visit countries whose capitals I had visited four years ago and where I had intensive discussions with Ministers, including four Prime Ministers and leaders of industry and banking, in my dual capacity as a Member in Westminster and a Member of the European Parliament.

I plan to arrive in Bangkok at 07.30 hours on Saturday, 9th October on flight TG921. I am booked into the Oriental Hotel. I plan to leave Bangkok at 21.45 hours on Wednesday, 13th October on flight CX712 for Hong Kong.

The time available to me is regrettably limited, and the more so since my wife will want to see some of the more interesting sights in the immediate vicinity, this being her first visit to Bangkok.

I do not want to cause you any undue inconvenience but would very much appreciate any help or advice you may be able to give me in Bangkok. For example, meetings with your Ministries of Commerce, Foreign Affairs, Finance and Defence would help me to bring myself up to date from when I was last in Bangkok.

As a Past-President of the International Textile Manufacturers' Association, of which The Thai Textile Manufacturers' Association is a member, I would particularly want to call on them and their President. On the last visit I spent some time at the home of their then President, Major-General Pramarn Adireksarn.

I am in Brussels during the week before I depart and could be available to call on you.
