The Committee are aware of the political sensitivities involved in this visit, particularly about Malaysia where they will also want to look into criticisms of the High Commissioner (e.g. Times article of 19 July). However, their last visit, to Brussels in July, did not go well, Mr Maxwell-Hyslop in particular proving very awkward at the post's briefing sessions. They must be adequately and carefully briefed this time.
