Numbers: On 19 October there were 13,176 Vietnamese
refugees in Hong Kong. There were no new arrivals
between 3 and 19 October
Multi-Fibre Arrangement (MFA)
14. We are pleased that the EC Commission intends to resume
negotiations with Hong Kong on 16 November, and we hope
for an agreement satisfactory to both sides.
Overseas Students
15.
The Hong Kong Government's preliminary proposal for fund
sharing is being studied carefully, as is the report of
the Overseas Students Trust. I hope it will not be long
before we can give an answer about our conclusions on the
latter.
