I should like to refer to my letter of 21 May 1982 concerning the question of the legal status of this Organization in Hong Kong.

Please be informed that our Chief of Mission in Hong Kong has received a letter dated 3 July 1982 from the Inland Revenue Department in Hong Kong advising him that the international staff of the Intergovernmental Com- mittee for Migration will continue to be exempted from Hong Kong Salaries Tax. The Department asked to be noti- fied in future whenever there is a change of the interna- tional staff of ICM in Hong Kong.

I am most grateful to you and to the competent authorities of Her Majesty's Government for having settled this question of exemption from income tax to our satisfac- tion.

I remain, Dear Mr. Ambassador,

him (KLA For Chfrick)

Sincerely,
