The Future in general

'It won't do anyone any good if this very flourishing Hong Kong that has been built up is destroyed. It is

in China's interests to keep it, it is investors' interests the world over to keep it. Above all it is in the interests of the people of Hong Kong to keep it.

So we all agree that it is desirable that it should be kept as flourishing as it is now'.

'We know the people of Hong Kong and other investors will be very interested in what transpires [in the talks]. We will try to keep people in touch with them but it is important above all that we get the right answer, the answer acceptable to the people of Hong Kong and to China and to Britain'.
