COMMONWEALTH METEOROLOGICAL SERVICES

1.

The Meteorological Office have informed us of their forthcoming meeting of Directors of Commonwealth Meteorological Services to be held in June 1983. Venue not stated but probably Shinfield Park, which was the site for the 1979 meeting.

2. The Director General intends to write to his Commonwealth colleagues inviting their attendance and seeking their views on the matters to be discussed. The invitations will be sent to Directors of all Commonwealth Meteorological Services whether or not they are members of the WMO. Treland is also to be invited.

3. Before sending out invitations the Director General has asked for advice as to whether there are any Commonwealth countries to which, in our view, an invitation should not be extended. Uganda, South Africa and Zimbabwe were not invited to the 1979 meeting. Grateful for your comments please.
