organizations should be accompanied by letters of authorization from the respective Governments or organizations which they will be representing. Participants are also advised to obtain, where necessary, transit visas for places en route to Bangkok before the commencement of their journey. Particulars regarding these visa requirements can be obtained from the airlines by which participants intendgto travel.

9. Participants who come from countries where there are no Thai diplomatic or consular missions are advised to cable Mr. C. Roy Smith, Chief, Division of Administration, ESCAP, at least 14 days in advance to enable him to arrange with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand for issue of visas on their arrival at the airport. Such requests should specify the names of the participants, their nationalities, the nature of passports (diplomatic, special, official or ordinary) and the serial numbers of their passports or travel documents.

Health regulations

10. Although it is not essential, it is recommended that participants obtain an inoculation for cholera.

Currency

Participants may bring with them into Thailand unrestricted sums of foreign currencies in the form of United States dollars, sterling, traveller's cheques, drafts, letters of credit or other banking instruments which may be exchanged fut

Participants may be required to declare on arrival at Bangkok airport the amount of traveller's cheques or currency in their possession.

Climate and clothing

12.

The average temperature in Bangkok during the month of January varies from 68° F to 92° F (20° C to 33° C). Light tropical clothing will therefore be sufficient. The conference halls where the meetings are to be held are air-conditioned and the temperature is maintained between 73° F and 770 F (23°C to 25° C).

Lounge suit is worn at official social functions held in connexion with the Conference.
