Declaration of A Year of Peace

and A Day of Peace

I enclose a copy of a letter sent to the Governor by a Korean academic seeking support for the declaration of a year of peace and a day of peace under UN General Assembly Resolution 36/77 fo 30 November 1981.

Is HMG intending to mark the year of peace and the day of peace? Did the UK support the Resolution? If so, we ought perhaps to give thought to ways in which this might be marked in Hong Kong. I should be grateful for advice.
