Purpose

To implement a phased programme for the construction of additional and replacement

launches and for provision of all necessary support facilities.

Progress Made and Present Position

The project to provide a syncrolift for the Dockyard was upgraded to Category A of the Public Works Programme on 11

Sept. 82

Draft Letter of Agreement being finalised. Once MOD's agreement has been obtained. Finance Committee will be asked to approve funds for the project. Detailed planning is continuing. There will be delays of 6-9 months in provision of some interim workshop facilities.

Following an exercise to test contingency plans for an aircraft crash in HK, a number of detailed recommendations for improvements are being considered. These include :

a) a radio system for Medical & Health

Department;

b) helicopter landing sites at hospitals for rapid casualty evacuation from the disaster area;

c) the preparation of an Emergency

Resources Digest.

Next Quarter's Target

To complete the 1983-84

review of the Marine

Police Fleet 10 year expansion programme.

To conclude agreement

with MOD, secure funds and continue detailed planning.

To coordinate and monitor the implementation of recommendations made as a result of the exercise.
