Target for Next Quarter

The HK team of the Flood Control Sub-group held an in-house meeting on 19.10.82 to discuss possible improvement measures to be proposed to the Shum Chun side. Feasible engineering solutions could not yet be worked out due to the lack of survey information.

To prepare medium to long- term improvement plans based on existing information; to approach the SZ side, via the PA, to ask for aerial surveys to be conducted along the River; to hold further discussions with a view to exchange/ collect more information and to agree on joint surveys and on common measure/calculation

methods.

To oversee the

development of passenger ferry services to China.

To maintain close liaison with the Heung Yee Kuk and to consult the Kuk on important matters affecting NT villagers.

The second joint meeting was held in Shum Chun with the Shum Chun authorities on 21st October 1982. PM/ST is consolidating departmental requirements for designing and constructing the temporary pier.

(a) The Joint Working Party on Land Exchange Entitlements met on 7.10.82 to consider

Finance Branch's counter- proposal to replace the Letter B system. Agreement has not been reached.

To closely monitor the progress in the planning and construction of the pier facilities on both sides. To seek approval of a PWP item for a pier at Shatin.

To discuss with the D of L and SLW to agree on a proposed submission to ExCo. To hold another Joint Working Party meeting to inform the Kuk of the Administration's decision before going back to ExCo. Thereafter, to consider the legal implications of amending the Crown Lands Resumption Ordinance and other related I ordinances.
