*10. Baptist College
To provide more effective arrangements through the UPGC for determining the academic development of and subventions to the College.
(a) Drafting instructions to prepare
new legislation for the College are under preparation.
(b) New salary scales and conditions of service have been proposed by the College. Comments from interested departments are being collated and examined.
To issue drafting instructions to Law Draftsman.
To forward to Finance Branch for necessary processing.

11. Language in
Education
(a) To consider the feasibility of establishing the Chinese Language Foundation to promote the use of Chinese.
(b) To establish an Institute
of Language in Education (ILE) in order to strengthen the teaching of language in schools.
(a) The recommendations in the report
by the Working Party on Development of the Chinese Language Foundation are being examined. Alternative methods of financing have been proposed.
(b) Classes at ILE commenced on
schedule to train the first batch of 100 primary school teachers in the teaching of English and Chinese. Recruitment exercise to fill the vacant post of Director and some specialist posts is continuing.
(a) To seek ExCo's
advice on the development and financing of the Foundation.
