Drafting instructions for a new piece of legislation for the Baptist College is being prepared.

College plans for reorganisation in the context of the report by the UK's Council for National Academic Awards on the assess- ment of the Lingnan College are being studied by the Government before reaching a view on the future role of the College in the provision of post-secondary education.

ExCo approved on 29 June 1982 the introduction of degree courses in Social Work, Computing Studies, Applied Science and Mathematics, Electronic Engineering at the Polytechnic in 1983/84. Further degree course proposals are under preparation by the Polytechnic for submission to U.P.G.C.

Professor D. Swift of the Open College of the University of East Asia has applied to register, under the Education Ordinance,

a study centre to provide support facilities for part-time degree programmes, which are patterned on UK Open University's system. Ordinance requires the consent of the Governor on the registration of a school offering post-secondary courses. HE has directed that ExCo advice should be sought.
