Purpose

To regulate the cost, level and standards of services of taxi operations.

Progress Made & Present Position

(b) The working group considering possible arrangements for the finance and management of the bridge has concluded that unacceptable delays would result if the Lyemun Bridge project was the subject of international tender. The project might be expedited by approaching a small number of companies with the

expertise for construction and management of the bridge. To this end the Cross Harbour Tunnel Company has been approached.

(c) An interim report on the

feasibility of the bridge, its location (as dictated by Airport flight path and Marine clearance but not I.L.S. considerations) and the type of structurę has been received.

Tender premia for urban and N.T. taxi licences in the May tenders rose by 1.9% and 39.6% respectively compared with the February tender)

(b) Following applications from the

taxi associations, the Transport Department has made recommendations that taxi fares be increased. These will be examined by TAC on 6 August.
