Progress Committee was convened in July to monitor progress of the proposed two joint venture developments.
To ascertain private developers' reactions to the proposal that the projects be undertaken on a joint venture basis, and to start detailed design of the wholesale markets.

the Container Port at Kwai Chung
To provide land for additional terminals and backup
facilities to cope with growth in the container trade.
(a) Reclamation of'the Creek' was gazetted in June. Negotiations are in progress between GLA and the terminal operators on the land premium. Land grant conditions are being prepared.
(b) The engineering
feasibility study on the proposed extension to the south for additional container terminals has been completed. The Container Port
Executive Committee will be consulted on the proper alignment of the proposed new terminal no. 6.
To grant 'the Creek' area to the terminal operators.
To gazette the reclamation for one additional termina to the south of the existing complex.
