Training for the Disabled

To transfer responsibility (a) In August 1980 the Education

Social Welfare (DSW) to
the Director of
Education (1) of E)
Department took over from the Social Welfare Department the World Rehabilitation Fund Day Centre for the provision of vocational training. Two additional floors were completed in December 1981 to provide an additional 84 training places for the disabled and the establishment of a Vocational Assessment Centre. The 107 trainees undergoing vocational training at the nearby Kai Nang Training Centre operated by the Social Welfare Department will all be absorbed by the World Rehabilitation Fund Day Centre before April 1982. The first batch of equipment for the Vocational Assessment Centre will arrive in February enabling full assessment programmes to begin.
(b) Two of the three school premises
in public housing estates offered by D of E to accommodate services to be transferred out of the World Rehabilitation Fund Day Centre have been accepted by the Social Welfare Department.
