Progress made and present position
(a) Comments are awaited from the
Supplementary Medical Professions Council, relevant professional Board and other interested bodies on the draft Medical Laboratory Technicians (Registration & Disciplinary Procedures) Regulations.
(b) A Co-ordinating Committee on
Para-medical Training is being established.
A package of anti-smoking measures were approved by the Governor-in- Council on 24 November 1981 ineluding the introduction of new legislation to provide for no-smoking areas in public transport and enclosed places and the display of health warnings and tar group ratings on cigarette packets and in cigarette advertise- ments. A number of working groups are handling the implementation of the new proposals and the preparation of drafting instructions.
