1.The necessary legislation (altogether

@ items) to prepare for the holding of the New Territories District Boards elections were

as appropriate, by the Governor, Executive Council and Legislative Council, by 22 January 1982.

2.A Final Register of Electors For the New

Territories District Boards elections was published on 14 Jan. 1982... (There were altogether 192,726 electors in the register). Notices of ordinary elect- ions inviting nominations of candidates were published by the Returning Officers on 15 Jan. 1982. (Closing date for nomination is 9 February and election date has been fixed for 4 March 1982).

3. Preparatory work is continuing satis-

factorily for a special exercise, in March/April 1982, for, the registration of electors in the urban areas for the Urban Areas District Boards elections in Sept. 1982.

2. New I.D. Card

(a) Govt. Printer's role to produce a new high security version of the H.K. I.D. card.

Funds approved by FC and revote/provision included in 1982/83 draft estimates. Fitting-out of suitable accommodation for the project was approved as a Cat. D item in PWP. Awaiting PWD to start work. GP continued examination of security features and suitable paper/equipment for the card. Request made to create વ supernumerary
