Subject
Modernization of the KCR
56/5591/74) 40/05/39).
Purpose
To electrify the KCR in conjunction with a programme of capital works to improve the carrying capacity of the railway.
Progress Made & Present Position
(a) The first phase of electrification
is completed. The new inner suburban serivce (from Kowloon to Sha Tin) will commence on 6th May 1982.
(b) Completion of electrificatiɔn to Tai Po market is scheduled for early 1983 and through to Lo Wu after mid-1983.
(c) New fares were approved by Co and will be implemented on
6th May 1982.
(a) The new KCR Ordinance and
Regulations came into effec; on 30th April.
