Hospital (MH)

Purpose

To monitor construction of Prince of Wales Hospital which will provide clinical training for the Second Medical School at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK).

To monitor the development of the Hospital project.

(a) To increase the

clinical staff at MH to review the long term staff require- ments and examine whether the integrated system proposed for the Prince of Wales Hospital should be adopted for use at QMH.

(b) To expand and improve the facilities at QMH

Due to contractors' difficulties the project is unlikely to be fully completed until the end of December 1982. areas required for the first phase commissioning will, however, ready for occupation by 1 October 1982 Meanwhile, purchase of equipment and recruitment of medical/technical staff for the Hospital have been progressing satisfactorily. The Project Co-ordinating Committee is monitoring the project closely.

The consultant architects have completed the detailed planning work. Revised schedule of accommodation and project estimates (899m) have been approved by Public Works Sub-Committee on 14 April 1982. Piling work is expected to commence in July 1982. The Project Co-ordinating Committee continues to hold regular meetings to monitor progress.
