Jubilee Sports Centre
Purpose
To establish a tertiary institute for training in the performing arts.
To review the existing policy on fireworks display.
Progress Made and Present Position
(1) Provisional Council
appointed and staffing of its supporting secretariat approved.
(2) The proposed helipad and vehicular access near the Academy site are unlikely to create serious problems.
ExCo has approved displays held on Chinese New Year fand Mid Autumn Festival.
Jardine's will sponsor a major display in the harbour on Chinese New Years for the next five years, and Urban Council will organise the one on Chinese New Year 1983.
To set up a training centre (1) Centre ready for for sports.
operation. Formal opening of the Centre coinciding with the opening of the FESPIC Games to be held on 31 October by the Duke and Duchess of Kent.

To keep in view construction
progress, and progress of
legislative proposal by the
secretariat of the Pro-
visional Council for a statutory council to manage the Academy.
To set up a vetting com- mittee to consider appli- cations, if any, to organise/sponsor fireworks displays other than the one by Jardine's.
To consider and arrive at a decision on the Board's request for future Govern- ment financial assistance.
