Of the 60 candidates selected for final
interviews in Hong Kong, 22 were recommended for appointment.
Two of them have since been found unsuitable for appointment
on security grounds. So far, eleven. have assumed duty;
the remaining nine will report for duty from late
August onwards.

Three local candidates interviewed in London
and two candidates interviewed in Boston were also
recommended for appointment.

The recruitment of overseas candidates through
the UK Civil Service Commission (CSC) is in progress. One
candidate will report for duty on 22 August 1982 and another
four are being considered.

In addition, one serving departmental officer
has been appointed on transfer to the Administrative Service;
two experienced officers have been offered appointment as
AOS on transfer from other dependent territories and a
