all that can be said is this: to the extent that a consensys can be detected, it ia that things are likely to be better in 1983 than in 1982. Hopefully, improved growth in several economies, such as the United States and Germany; pay bring about some recovery in world trade. As the pricep of our domestic exports should now be very competitive, having retained stable so far this year. am confident that our dipert sector will be quick to capitalise on any recovery that may cocut/

The existing 5-year agrooment with Community governing Hong Kong's exports of textile products to 'the "Community" Wiitsipize at the end of 1982. a new agreement have yet to be concluded. that we have béén 'Tosblüte' in defending Hong Kong's interest and in bringing home both to the Community and to HMG, importance of these negotiations to us.
