EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This Note is not part of the Regulations.)
These Regulations increase the fees payable under the British Nationality Regulations 1975 in respect of the conferment of citizenship of the United Kingdom and Colonies or British subject status (Regulations 3(b), (c) and (d) and 5).
Regulation 28 of the 1975 Regulations is amended so as to require registration and naturalisation fees to be paid on submission of the application (Regulation 3(a)).
Paragraph 4 of Schedule 1 to the 1975 Regulations which requires applications and declarations to be witnessed, and oaths of allegiance to be administered, by certain persons is amended in consequence of the attainment of independence by the New Hebrides (now known as Vanuatu).
